Ceramic Sculptures

Genady reflects on his methods in sensual terms of creation. He relates how he sits at his potter's wheel, making an indication into the body of the rotating clay, breathing life into it, molding it. He says it is like conception and birth all at once. Then, the kiln where the pots are stacked is like the womb. Nine hours of firing is symbolic of the nine months of gestation. He finally reaches into the hot oven and removes his new pieces.
Genady sums up the last step in his creative process: "When the hot blast of air from the kiln envelops my face, I am in ecstasy - the birth of the next generation.
